MacKerricher State Park
September 10th - 17th, 2010
This September we're heading to the enchanting location of MacKerricher State Park for an entire week! MacKerricher State Park is located a few miles north of Fort Bragg on Hwy 1 in Mendocino County. It is known for its diversity, moderate climate, and wild beauty making it a gem among California's State Parks. There is tide pooling along the shore and seals may be seen on the rocks along the coastline. More than 90 species of birds visit or live near Cleone Lake, a formal tidal lagoon, contained within the park. The park is popular with hikers, joggers, equestrians and bicyclists. Fishing is also popular at Cleone Lake. The campground is walking distance from the beach, and yet still protected from oceanfront winds, nestled in the forest. MacKerricher, known historically as Cleone, is the only park in the system that was at one time part of the Mendocino Indian Reservation. For more info on the park, please check out the brochure found here.
We have a large loop of individual sites reserved, where we will make our own group site. We are in a non-RV loop, so there are no RV's allowed in our loop. We have sites 40 - 54 reserved; there should be plenty of sites right nearby that do permit RV's for RVers to reserve for themselves.
- This campout will cost $54 per person, over the age of two, for the seven-day week, and includes firewood for cooking and campfires as needed
- One car per family.
- Reservations are first come, first served, with priority given to HSC members. Our September campout has historically filled up, so check your membership to make sure it is current!
- Reservations must be cancelled by August 20, 2010 to receive a full refund.
