HOW TO DONATE A CONFERENCE TICKET

In the spirit of the 2023 HSC Conference theme of “HSC Family Reunion”, we are continuing to offer the community-funded ticketing option. When purchasing tickets online, you will now be able to donate either half a ticket or a full ticket to another HSC member family in financial need, for whom cost would otherwise be a barrier to attending. 

 

Below is a step by step guide to donating a conference ticket. The process is slightly different depending on whether you are buying for yourself (and guests) at the same time as the donated ticket, or just donating a ticket without buying for yourself.

 If you are buying tickets for yourself and guests, PLUS a donation: 

On the conference registration page, click the "Register Now" button, which will take you to a page titled "Event Registration - Who's Attending."

 

(Please Note the screenshots below show the Black Friday sale ticket prices. If you are purchasing tickets after Black Friday weekend the prices will be different, but the principle will be the same.)

 

Let's use an example where you are buying tickets for yourself, your partner, your child, and you would like to donate half the cost of a conference ticket. (Please note your family members must be added to your HSC member profile before purchasing conference tickets).

In this case you would register yourself plus THREE guests (the half ticket donation counts as a full guest). Click Next.

The next page is titled "Event Registration - Choose Registrant Types". Choose the options shown below (the only difference would be choosing "donate a full conference ticket" for Guest 3 if that's what you wanted to do). Click Next.

Next you will confirm the names of your family members, and create the name of your donated ticket. The first name will be DONATION, the surname will be YOUR OWN SURNAME. Type in YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS (so that the confirmation email will come to you) and YOUR PHONE NUMBER (so that you can be contacted if there are any issues - very unlikely). Click Next.

The next page is called "Event Registration - Additional Information". Leave all sections of this page blank, and click Next.

The next page is called "Event Registration - HSC Policies. Read thoroughly and check the box to agree in order to proceed to the next page: "Event Registration - Summary". On this page, check all the details are correct and then click the "Complete Registration" button as seen below. As it states on the page, you must pay within 30 minutes otherwise the registration will be cancelled. 

You will then receive a confirmation email. Thank you for your donation and see you at the conference!

 If you are donating a full or half ticket without buying for yourself: 

It may be the case that you cannot attend the conference yourself, or you will attend for free (e.g. as a grandparent) but you would still like to donate a full or half ticket.

 

On the conference registration page, click the "Register Now" button, which will take you to a page titled "Event Registration - Who's Attending".

Let's say you would like to donate the full cost of a conference ticket. Choose the following option, then click Next.

The next page is titled "Event registration - Choose Registrant Types". Choose the following options (or check the "Donate half the cost" button if you wish to do that). Click Next.

The next page is titled "Event registration - Configure Your Guests". Here you are creating the name for your donated ticket. The first name will be DONATION, the surname will be YOUR OWN SURNAME. Type in YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS (so that the confirmation email will come to you) and YOUR PHONE NUMBER (so that you can be contacted if there are any issues - very unlikely). Click Next

The next page is called "Event Registration - Additional Information". Leave all sections of this page blank, and click Next.
